Same tourist spots
Jacó, Tamarindo, La Fortuna or Puerto Viejo are overrun and overpriced. The lodges where owners greet you by name, the cloud forests with no crowds, the beaches where you'll spend a whole morning alone — those can be hard to find without local insight.
Off-season surprises
Costa Rica's two coasts have opposite weather. The Quetzal peaks February–May. Whale watching on the Pacific peaks in August — miss the window and the experience won't be the same.
Logistics headaches
The right vehicle, the right timing. I know which roads turn to mud in rainy season, which river crossings to avoid, which national holidays will double your travel time, or when a boat or ferry saves you half a day. That's the kind of detail that changes a trip.

I moved to Costa Rica in 2022. I live in an authentic Costa Rican region where Pura Vida isn't a slogan, it's just Tuesday.
I came for the nature. I stayed for the people and the culture.
Over 5 years I've built 100+ custom itineraries for independent travelers — couples on honeymoon, families with young kids, solo adventurers, groups. Every one of them left having seen a Costa Rica that most tourists miss entirely.

Pay on arrival
My planning fee is the only payment before your trip. All accommodation nights with my partners and your car rental are pay on arrival — you pay the owners and operators directly when you arrive. Plus: I lend you a cooler and SIM card for the road, and stay reachable on WhatsApp from departure to return.
